Odrastao je među ljubičastim zidovima i grafitima Ballasa, gde se poštovanje ne dobija rečima nego delima. Bio je nov u krajevima, klinac koga su stariji gledali sa sumnjom, ali Jeff je imao hladan pogled i mirnu ruku. Prva noć na ulici mu je promenila život — mala akcija, brzi beg i dokaz da nije samo još jedan izgubljeni klinac. Od tog trenutka, ime Jeff Smith je počelo da se šapuće među Ballasima.
