Bio je poznat po brzom bijesu i impulsivnim reakcijama. Nadimak "Madder" je dobio jer je lako planuo i rijetko se povlačio iz sukoba. Radio je sitne poslove na ulici, upleo se u ozbiljne poslove, učestvovao u obračunima i dvije pucnjave zbog kojih je završio u zatvoru, gdje je proveo sedam godina. Nakon izlaska odlučio je da zaboravi na prošlost.
